January 2011 Guest Review
Overall the quality of our visit was extraordinary! A truly amazing placed to be. Our room was exceptionally beautiful and comfortable. Breakfast was world class on both Saturday and Sunday. The hostess was more than accommodating throughout our entire stay. The walls of this house are saturated with family tradition and love, which emanate a feeling of warmth, safety and comfort In the morning we watched the swan pair dance and bathe in the pond while observing the historic quality of the grounds. Afterwards we explored the local animal conservation and town of Ephrata. We also ate dinner in our room, so that we could continue enjoying it as much as possible. Our sleep was peaceful and I even had delightful dreams of the town, this house, and the family. This experience will never be forgotten and will be held close to our hearts for a lifetime. We hope the length between this and our next stay is very brief, and we are excited to stay in the other rooms in future visits. Passing on good words to our friends and family will be a pleasure.

Swans and White tail deer
We just bought a pair of Royal Mute Swans for the pond. They are so graceful to watch. Another benefit is that they are territorial and will keep whole flocks of Canadian Geese from landing. The geese are pretty too but the make a lot of noise (and dirt). The swans are perfect residents.
We also have been having white tailed deer coming to drink in the pond in front of the house almost every day. They are not even afraid of people walking in and out of the inn! If you like nature, there is a mile long walk on a paved road that leads through a canopy of trees. You can walk listening to the birds sing and you can hear the water running through the brook.
Water pump and sandstone trough
We are often asked about the water that runs constantly through the pump and trough in the front yard. Yes, it is natural spring water that runs by gravity from the mountain. It is great water which many local residents come to bottle for drinking. It has run for decades through the sandstone trough and then into the pond. The wooden pump case is a replica of those found on the Ephrata Cloister property and the trough is an old hand-hewn sandstone trough from a local farm. Many wedding and engagement pictures have been taken beside the pump!
